Pallets, transport and collection of wholesale lots

Prepare the loading and delivery details before booking a vehicle or promising a delivery date.

Describe the shipment accurately

Ask for the number of pallets or packages, their dimensions and gross weight. Confirm whether pallets can be stacked, whether goods need special handling and whether the loading address differs from the seller’s business address.

A quotation based only on unit count may omit information the carrier needs. For a full truck or container, obtain a loading plan suited to the actual goods and vehicle.

Assign each practical task

Agree who books transport, prepares and labels the goods, loads the vehicle and handles unloading. Confirm the loading equipment, access restrictions, appointment time and the documents that must accompany the goods.

If you use an Incoterms® rule, specify the rule, named place and version. These rules allocate particular transport-related tasks, costs and risks; the commercial agreement still needs its other terms. Consult the official ICC guidance when choosing the rule.

Record collection and receipt

At collection, compare the shipment with the agreed inventory and take appropriate records of its visible condition. At delivery, check quantities and visible damage as soon as practicable and record discrepancies through the agreed process.

Retain the transport reference, delivery paperwork, photos and the relevant messages. LOTB2B does not book the vehicle or insure the shipment; these arrangements must be made with the seller, carrier or the appropriate service provider.
